Artificial intelligence (AI) is a key topic for the future at Schunk. Generative AI in particular, which is able to develop content independently, offers a wide range of possibilities in everyday work.
Since the middle of the year, a Schunk-wide working group of colleagues from the Business Units and the holding company, led by Global Digitalization, has been looking at the opportunities and risks this technology offers Schunk. Several workshops and discussions with Microsoft, among others, laid the foundation for the broad use of generative AI at Schunk and the introduction of Bing Chat Enterprise.
"Bing Chat Enterprise creates new opportunities to make our daily work easier," says Dr Erik Etzelmüller, who is responsible for Data Analytics & AI within Global Digitalization as Program Manager. "The chosen solution combines the functions of ChatGPT with those of a web search. At the same time, it guarantees the necessary requirements for the security of our data," continues Dr. Etzelmüller.
Secure and easy to use
In concrete terms, this means that Bing Chat Enterprise has no access to internal data and does not store, share or use user input for training purposes. This makes the solution one step ahead of ChatGPT: the main reason for not using ChatGPT was concerns about data security, which is why access had to be blocked in the Schunk network.
But Bing Chat Enterprise is not only a clear improvement on ChatGPT in terms of security: the solution can also search the Internet and provide suitable source information for all content.

"With Bing Chat Enterprise, we now have a digital assistant available to us worldwide and thus for all countries via web browser (via https://bing.com/chat), which takes work off our hands and makes artificial intelligence tangible.
