Weiss Umwelttechnik buys Imtech Automotive Testing Solutions

Employees retained, operating locations remain in place

The largest operating location of Weiss Umwelttechnik is in Reiskirchen, Germany. With Hamburg and Stuttgart two additional locations are added.

Weiss Umwelttechnik has bought Automotive Testing Solutions (ATS), the testing facilities division of insolvent company Imtech Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, helping Weiss Umwelttechnik to pursue its growth strategy further.

Commenting on the purchase, Peter R. Manolopoulos, Managing Director of Weiss Umwelttechnik, explained, "Buying ATS fits perfectly with our strategy of expanding the business, especially in Asia", adding that ATS enjoyed an excellent reputation in the industry. "I am particularly pleased, therefore, that Weiss Umwelttechnik will be taking on all of ATS's staff." Manolopoulos went on to say that ATS's operating locations in both Hamburg and Stuttgart would remain in place and that ATS's business operations would continue.

Test system manufacturer

Throughout the world, ATS develops, builds and operates entire plants and test bench modules used particularly for the testing and simulation of environmental conditions in the automobile and automotive supply industry. The company employs around 90 people in Germany, with a further 60 or so employed in subsidiaries in China and Thailand. To date, most of ATS's turnover has been achieved in China and south-east Asia.

Customer benefits

ATS's program will provide additional capacity, not least for Weiss Umwelttechnik's existing product portfolio, including temperature and climate test chambers, altitude chambers and engine test benches. "The clients will benefit from greater capacity as a result of shorter delivery times", explained Manolopoulos. New products will also be added to the portfolio, allowing Weiss Umwelttechnik to offer its customers a much more comprehensive range of testing systems from a single source.

Weiss Umwelttechnik to take on all ATS employees

"I am pleased that we have found a strong partner in Weiss Umwelttechnik and the Schunk Group to acquire ATS", stressed Peter-Alexander Borchardt, insolvency administrator of Imtech Deutschland and partner at Reimer Attorneys, Hamburg. "It is especially good news for ATS employees that Weiss Umwelttechnik will be seamlessly taking on all of ATS's highly qualified personnel."
