New Defibrillator Enhances Workplace Emergency Response Capabilities

Weiss Technik UK has taken a step towards emergency preparedness with installation of new defibrillator

In a world where workplace safety is paramount, Weiss Technik UK is continually seeking ways to ensure the well-being of our teams. We recently took a big step towards enhancing safety in our office in Loughborough by installing an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on the first floor of our building – an essential medical device that can save lives in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.

The presence of a defibrillator in the workplace can make a crucial difference in emergency situations. Sudden cardiac arrest can strike anyone at any time, regardless of age or pre-existing health conditions. Having immediate access to a defibrillator significantly increases the chances of survival.

According to British Red Cross, quick use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can lead to survival rates of 50% to 70%. If someone is unresponsive, every minute that passes without chest compressions and defibrillation reduces their chances of surviving by up to 10%.

Alongside the installation of the defibrillator, we’ll be providing office staff with a two-hour training session on how to use the defibrillator so, if in the event of something serious happening, there is always a well-trained member of staff on-site to help a person in need of life saving attention.

We wanted to share this news to encourage other organisations to invest in life-saving equipment and training in the workplace, as it really could be the difference between life and death. Not only does having a defibrillator on-site significantly reduce response time and increase chances of survival, it also brings peace of mind to your staff that should they suffer a sudden cardiac arrest, they will be attended to quickly and safely, without the added worry of relying on ambulance response times.
